Is ice cream the perfect comfort food? Cold, sweet, creamy, and downright irresistible, it brings happiness to people of all ages. You can enjoy ice cream on any occasion, at any time of year. But of course it tastes best in the summertime, which is why July is National Ice Cream Month.
There’s an incredible variety of ice cream available, with options for everyone. Dairy or non-dairy. Smooth or chunky. Light and healthy-ish or go-for-broke decadent. As is or loaded with toppings. Balanced on a cone, nestled in a dish, or sandwiched between cookies. And any serving of pie or cake is improved by topping it with a scoop of ice cream.
What’s your favorite flavor? I’m not sure if I could choose just one, but there’s almost always a carton of Trader Joe’s Coffee Bean Blast in the freezer. And when Graeter’s releases its Strawberry Chocolate Chip limited edition in the spring, I start searching the local grocery stores to find it and stock up.
Pistachio is one of those love-it-or-hate it flavors. Even if you’re not on the love-it side of pistachio ice cream, its soft, soothing green is the kind of color that can make a blazing summer day seem a few degrees cooler. My “Pistachio” earrings, shown below, might have the same effect. Or if you’re one of those people who can never have it hot enough, kick it up a little with the warm, bright colors of the rest of the Summer Collection. Whatever you choose, have fun and enjoy the season!
