Eat More Ice Cream

Is ice cream the perfect comfort food? Cold, sweet, creamy, and downright irresistible, it brings happiness to people of all ages. You can enjoy ice cream on any occasion, at any time of year. But of course it tastes best in the summertime, which is why July is National Ice Cream Month. There’s an incredible variety of ice cream available, with options for everyone. Dairy or non-dairy. Smooth or chunky. Light and healthy-ish or go-for-broke decadent. As is or loaded with toppings. Balanced on a cone, nestled in a dish, or sandwiched between cookies. Take a Walk on the Wild Side

I live in the northern suburbs of Detroit, far enough out to see a variety of wildlife in the area. You could easily guess that the rabbits are my favorites. The early flowers have emerged, with crocuses and snowdrops blooming now, hellebores and daffodils not far behind. With luck, they will defy the elements and last a while to be enjoyed.  Eventually the weather will get warm and stay that way, but when? And how long before it goes from warm to hot? Some years we seem to get only a couple of days...

It's Groundhog Day!

Is there anyone who has never seen the movie? Is there anyone who has never felt like Phil, living the same day over and over? When your life is “same old, same old,” do you find it safe and comfortable? Or boring? Is the alternative any better? Maybe. It depends on what’s going on and whether you intended for it to happen. Your long-awaited dream vacation: perfect! “Interesting” weather in the forecast: no thanks. An exciting new career opportunity: great! Big changes at the company where you work: hold on to your hat. (I learned to hate the word “reorganization.”)...
